Whether it's your wedding, a formal, or the work Christmas party, you'll be in a lot of photos. The secret to your brightest smile on the day isn't last-minute whitening. It's starting early enough that your teeth are at their best, with no sensitivity, by the time the camera comes out.
Here's our week-by-week plan.
6–8 weeks before: see your dentist
Book a check-up and clean. A professional clean removes plaque and tartar, so your whitening gel works on clean enamel. It's also the time to sort out cavities or gum problems, which you should fix before whitening.
Planning new dental work, like a crown or veneer? Whitening only changes natural teeth, so whiten first. Your dentist can then match the new work to your brighter shade.
5 weeks before: get ready
Start using a desensitising toothpaste, and keep using it right through your treatment. If you're whitening with your bridal party, now's the time to order. The Besties Pack includes two full kits.

4 weeks before: your whitening week
This is the main event. Do three kit sessions across the week, each up to 40 minutes. Our Ultimate Teeth Whitening Kit comes with the tray, LED light, gel and a pen for later.
For 48 hours after each session, skip coffee, red wine, tea, curry and other stain-heavy food and drinks.
2–3 weeks before: check in and top up
Take a photo in natural light and compare it with your before shot. If you'd like to go a little brighter, do one more session now. Leave at least a week between your last full session and the big day, so any sensitivity has time to settle.
The final week: maintain, don't push
No more full sessions now. Instead, use a Teeth Whitening Pen for quick 60-second touch-ups. Go easy on staining food and drinks, and keep up the water.
On the day
- Pop your pen in your bag for a quick touch-up before photos.
- Sip dark drinks through a straw.
- Rinse with water after red wine or coffee.
- Smile!
Short on time?
If your event is only two weeks away, you can still see a difference. Do your three kit sessions this week, then switch to pen touch-ups for the final week.
Getting ready with your crew? Our Besties Pack gives you two kits in one, so you can whiten together and save.
